Corsavino Bottles The Passions of Wine And Italian Motorcycling For Enthusiast Enjoyment
New wines combine two of life's finer things; wine and Italian Motorcycling
PORTLAND, OR (18 June 2009) - CorsaVino announces today the bottling and immediate availability of its new, Italian motorcycle-themed wine selections at www.corsavino.com.
CorsaVino, founded by motorcycle connoisseur Arun Sharma; is a winning combination of vintner Rich Cushman's acclaimed wine and the pair's shared passion for Italian motorcycles. Sharma, a lifelong motorcyclist and GM of MotoCorsa- one of Ducati's premiere dealerships- is a well known figure in the Italian bike scene. His love of Italian motorcycles and the Ducati community inspired him to invest in another treasure enjoyed by so many in the motorcycle community - fine wine.
Originally "not much of a drinker," many trips to Italy exposed Arun to the passion of winemaking and the ritual of slowing down to share a fine wine with friends. The Italian winemakers' obsession with detail and the quality of each component - all ultimately for the purpose of enjoying life - resonated deeply with his appreciation for Italian motorcycles. Thus inspired, it was an unforeseen but natural journey to blend these shared passions and capture them in a bottle.
The range includes a Columbia Valley Cabernet, Viognier and Syrah; all of which have been produced in extremely limited quantities. The wines are affordably priced at $25-30, and available for shipment across the USA. Full details and images can be found at www.corsavino.com.
About CorsaVino 'Il Mostro Rosso' Cabernet:
Premium fruit from three vineyards in Washington's Tri-Cities area and minimal handling resulted in this beautifully structured, classically styled Cabernet. This wine rested 20 months in the barrel (45% new French oak and 15% new American oak) before bottling. The resulting deep oak spice backs rich cassis and blackberry fruit characters, sweet cigar and violets. A long, balanced finish with beautiful acidity makes this an excellent food and special occasion wine. Decant and drink now, or lay down to savor for a future occasion.
About CorsaVino Viognier:
The fruit for this limited release comes predominantly from Lonesome Spring Ranch in Benton City, Washington - an exceptional site. A touch of Pinot Gris (4%) was included to enhance depth and structure. Fermentation took place entirely in barrel (90% neutral; 10% new American oak), with seven months of aging sur lie. This technique added rich textural elements and brought out a nice spice dimension to the bouquet, highlighting the papaya and flower characters. No malolactic fermentation was allowed - the wine's full creamy body is the natural expression of the fruit and the barrel.
In the glass, intense, tropical aromas mingle with white blossoms and mint. The flavors are vibrant and forward, with ripe peach, mineral and mint predominating. Remarkably rich and round up front with a clean, focused finish, this full-bodied wine is simply delicious.
About CorsaVino Syrah:
Syrah from two vineyards on the Wahluke Slope in the Columbia Valley was selected to craft this deeply luscious wine. Cold soaking prior to fermentation helped extract aroma and flavor components without creating an aggressive character. The wine saw 30 months barrel aging in one and two-year-old French oak barrels, adding a wonderful roundness and elegance and making it immediately ready to drink.
The bouquet releases toasty oak notes over deep blackberry and plum fruits, followed by coffee and tobacco tones. The entry is richly supple yet well structured, with flavors matching the nose through a deliciously long finish. True to its inspiration: this is a bold Syrah with finesse.
